Our first free training course of the season, iOS At the Next Level, begins tomorrow, Monday, September 9, 2019 at 3:30PM Eastern Time. For this course, due to the exact nature of the course, we will not be using the iTunes U platform to distribute materials as with later classes. All audio and other materials related to the course will be distributed through this blog.
To join the live sessions, use the Zoom Cloud Meetings app or the Zoom website. When prompted for the meeting ID, enter:
Or join directly from This Link.
Please save the meeting ID for future use, as it will be the same for all sessions of all courses. Please consider joining a few minutes early to ensure that your device is working properly, especially if this is your first time using Zoom. If you are joining a session for the first time, you may be prompted to allow microphone access. Please do so. Remember that the host will join a bit early each time, but if you do happen to join prior to the host, you will not be able to talk to anyone, even if there are other participants in the Zoom meeting. Audio will not be heard until the host joins.
When it is actually time for the sessions to begin, audio for all participants will be muted, and due to the overwhelming number of students in the courses, audio will remain muted for the duration of the session, except in special help and lab sessions, depending on the number of attendees. Instructions on asking questions will be provided below.
If you attempt to join the Zoom session and it is full, we have set up an overflow stream so you can still participate. To join this, you will need to download another free app from the App Store. The app is called Dabel. Please check the spelling of the app so you may search for it properly. Once you open Dabel, you may be asked to sign up or sign in. You do not need to do so. Again, do not worry about having an account. Instead, join as a guest by ignoring any sign up instructions that may appear. Then, search for the iOS At the next Level live stream to join.
You will be seeing Phantom shadow as the name of the person hosting the stream. This is correct. Again, there is absolutely no need to download and use the Dabel app unless you are unable to join the Zoom session.
If you have any questions during the live teaching sessions, please direct them to our special iMessage ID. Again, all questions are being handled via Apple iMessage. To access this, open the Messages app on your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or Mac, and compose a new message to:
Please do not use the chat or raise hand features in Zoom, or the comments feature of Dabel, as these may not be monitored. Questions submitted through iMessage will be taken as time permits, with the last ten to twenty minutes of each session being reserved for Q and A. We will try to answer all relevant questions within each session, but due to the incredible number of participants, some questions may be postponed until the following session. If you must be late for a session or leave early, or if you must leave and come back in, this is no problem. Please do so as needed. If you are unable to attend a live session, stay tune for the audio and other materials to follow, usually within 24-48 hours of each session.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. God bless you, and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.:)
